Aldi eyes up new store in Newbury
Discount retailer, Aldi, is eyeing up opening another store in Newbury.
According to the chain's website their sustained growth means Aldi are continually expanding their property portfolio to help achieve ever-growing goals for 2022. They have ambitious acquisition and development plans beyond that.
They are looking to acquire sites that meet the following property criteria for our standard store format.
As well as a store in Newbury, the chain has also identified Thatcham as a place it wants to open with its preferred location at a retail park, edge of town centre or on a main road.
The chain opened its store on London Road in 2013.
Aldi is the UK’s fifth largest and fastest growing supermarket with over 775 stores and over 30,000 employees. The company has more than doubled its market share since 2010. In the 12 weeks to 12th August, Aldi grew sales by 12.6% and has a 7.6% share of the market (Kantar Worldpanel data).
