Bridge work is delayed
Just days after Network Rail advised us that the new footbridge at Newbury Station would open in March, they have announced a delay.
Due to bad weather over the winter the footbridge will now be opened on the 3rd April, with the old bridge to be removed by the end of April.
The weather has meant that they have not yet been able to power up the lighting and CCTV which is required to open up the new footbridge.
The work is part of a bigger project to bring electric trains to Newbury that will also see the line through the Town shut on several occasions during the week this year.
In a seperate announcement today, GWR has said people with train tickets can travel on the Reading Buses Mereoak park and ride bus for free during the track closure.
