CCTV switch on
A year after its intended switch on and Newbury could finally be getting its much needed CCTV turned back on.
Despite initial promises that the part local authority funded project would be online last March, people visiting Newbury have been left without the eye in the sky.
There were hopes among members of Newbury Bid that the CCTV system would be operational by New Years Eve.
It has since been confirmed that unavoidable delays had caused problems acording to Lindsey Finch at Thames Valley Police.
The Chief Inspector added: "I understand from the BID that the CCTV should be going live very soon.
"There have been a number of unavoidable delays which are hopefully now coming to a close."
The news that the cameras will be turned back on soon follows yet another bag snatch incident this week in the Town.
