Defend Parliamentary sovereignty march

A march to defend Parliamentary sovereignty is planned to take place tomorrow in Newbury Town Centre.

With just over 3,000 people in the Newbury constituency signing signed a petition entitled 'Do Not Prorogue Parliament,' the march will begin in the Market Place from 11.30am.

The march and petition have come about following PM Boris Johnson's decision to suspend Parliament for more than four weeks across September and October.

On the event's Facebook page, organisers say: "Whether you support leave or remain, we cannot allow our Parliamentary democracy to be undermined. Many people who voted leave said it was to reclaim/protect Parliamentary sovereignty. This is now being taken away. Even during the Tory leadership race the candidates were saying that Proroguing Parliament would be unthinkable."
