Drinks in the sun in Newbury

With the sun teasing us on a regular basis, we have prepared a guide to help you make a quick decision about where to grab a drink while it's out without having to have great WhatsApp debates.

First up lets go to the Elephant at the Market.

The Market Place pub and hotel has a great garden at its rear eager to welcome guests. The garden boasts a wide selection of seats and plenty of shelter in case the weather takes a turn for the worse.

Another big bonus of this place are the heaters that are inside the big industrial shed that sits at the bottom of the garden that will provide a warm blast as the sun sets.

Next stop has to be Lock Stock and Barrel

Newbury's most popular sunshine haunt is the Lock Stock and Barrel. Sitting right by the canal, the Fullers pub provides the perfect setting to catch some sunshine with its sundeck and then sun-downers as day turns to night.

Being a Fullers pub also gives this place a wide range of drinks to enjoy but also some real pub food classics such as fish finger sandwiches and fantastic beef burgers.

Fortunately for Bills it gets the sun all day

Fans of Bills in Newbury get the choice of catching some rays in their front seating area, which also provides a great people watching spot, or at the back of the restaurant in their secret garden.

The popular eatery has become a firm favourite in Newbury since it opened, offering a food throughout the day in really nice surroundings.

The Newbury's roof top terrace with its DJs and open-mic nights is a popular choice with music blasting late in to the night. Heading up the stairs to the terrace takes you to a different world.

We are going left-field for this one at Camp Hopson

Take the lift all the way to the roof of the famous Newbury story and you are taking away from the hustle and bustle that is going on below.

While we admit that the Camp Hopson balcony doesn't catch the sun all day, but when it does it provides a great place to enjoy a bite to eat in the sun at the tea shop. You can even upgrade afternoon tea with dainty sandwiches, scones and cakes with a little fizz for an extra £5.

Chill by the canal at the Slug and Lettuce

The Slug and Lettuce has a small seating area outside that teases you with sun as much of it is undercover and cast in shadows.

While this is a good place to watch the swans and ducks chill in the canal, the Slug and Lettuce is more of a place to cool down if it all gets a bit hot.

Lusso and Lebanese House at Weavers Walk

Weavers Walk is essentially a sun trap and quiet escape from Northbrook Street. Housing both new Newbury favourites, Lusso and Lebanese House, this street now gives us even more reason to think we have hit the med.

With hummus, mixed grills, gelato, sour dough pizzas and garlic bread all within a few steps of each, this is a food and warm weather heaven.
