First UK Ginsters opens
The first ever Ginsters pasty shop opened here in Newbury on Saturday.
Located where the West Country Pasty shop was, the rebranded outlet has had a fresh lick of paint and renamed the Pasty Store.
The store sells everything from the traditional Cornish Pasty to more left field flavours such as green curry pasty. As well as sandwiches, pasta and wraps.
I opted for the Cornish Pasty. If they can't get that right then what hope have they got?
Benchmarking this against some great pasties enjoyed on a recent trip to Bude in Cornwall, I was impressed by how much meat and vegetables they managed to squeeze in.
The warm pasty wasn't probably the most obvious choice for a sunny day in early September, but it did surprise and was an improvement on the usual service station offering.
