Friendly sessions for people living with Dementia and their carers at the Corn Exchange
There’s a warm welcome for people living with dementia, their carers and families at the Corn Exchange Newbury’s Memory Café - a free, monthly, informal morning of tea, coffee, cake and arts activities.
Held at the Corn Exchange’s Balcony Bar, Memory Café is a place where people living with dementia, their carers and families can interact, find support, share concerns, celebrate and take part in arts activities in a comfortable environment. Held on the third Monday of each month from 10.30am to midday, there is a new activity led by a professional artist, with the aim being to stimulate the brain and encourage conversation.
Upcoming monthly sessions this autumn include piano by Trevor Defferd (21 Oct), creative movement and chair based dance with Natalie Watson (18 Nov) and classical guitar by Fernando Aguera (16 Dec).
Other activities planned for 2020 include Intergenerational Music (20 Jan), recorder trio Caroline Woodhouse, Hayley Sherlock and Sophie Ream (16 Mar), piano and singalong songs with James Baker (18 May) and flute and guitar music by Cathy Laney and Jack Rowe (15 Jun).
