From beds to beer as furniture shop becomes boozer
Popular pub, The Globe, has made a big step towards reopening with the signing of a lease for new premises.
Owners of the venue are looking to set up shop in what was recently a furniture outlet in the Kennet Centre next door to their current set-up on Bartholomew Street.
A post on social media read: "We haven’t set a date yet for the reopening, but we’re working as fast as we can. It’s looking like the end of September at the moment, but don’t quote us."
The Globe has been vocal about how it has not been able to fully reopen post lockdown. A petition was set up earlier this summer with the intention of getting a substantial extension to their current pavement licence and also a change of use to the empty unit next door to them in the Kennet Centre.
In total more than 5,000 people signed the petition.
