Heathrow expansion plans to be opposed
Plans to block the expansion of Heathrow Airport are to be discussed by West Berks Councillors next week.
A motion put forward by Green Party Councillor, David Marsh, says the expansion of Heathrow is incompatible with tackling the climate emergency and the UK becoming carbon neutral by 2030.
The motion features on the agenda for Council Meeting on Tuesday 2 July the Heathrow.
The Councillor hopes it will make a submission as part of the Airport Expansion Consultation to express opposition to the Airport’s expansion along with plan to send a note to Richard Benyon MP to express its opposition to Heathrow expansion.
While the Council is against Heathrow’s expansion, they will maintain their support for the Heathrow Western Rail link.
Just last year, Councillors unanimously voted in favour of supporting proposals for a third runway.
We have asked David Marsh for comment on the motion put forward.
