Helen & Douglas House to close

An Oxfordshire based charity is to close its store in Newbury.

After ten years Helen & Douglas House will shut on Bartholomew Street next month.

The charity is a home from home for terminally ill babies, children, and their families. They are a comforting place where families can enjoy creating happy memories together in their child’s last days, weeks, months or years.

Their website also states: "We’re here to support the whole family at this unimaginably difficult time, providing practical and emotional support as families face the challenges of terminal illness."

In a post on social media, the charity said their ten-year lease is ending this year and due to declining sales, they sadly have had to close the Newbury charity shop.

Adding: "We would like to thank you for your kind donations and for shopping with us for the past decade. Thank you for your generosity which has helped many local terminally ill children."
