It was a busy December in Newbury
The number of people visiting Newbury Town Centre in December increased compared to the previous year.
Despite a national trend that saw fewer people heading on to the high street, Newbury was able to buck that trend with a 2% increase.
The busiest day of the year was the Friday before Christmas when more than 42,000 people are reported to have pounded the Town Centre's streets.
Leader of Newbury Town Council, Adrian Edwards, said: "The annual switch on of the Christmas lights was yet again very successful last year and the Town Council are grateful to the BID for the provision of the Christmas lights."
