M4 eastbound closed after serious crash
The M4 has been closed eastbound at Newbury after a serious crash since around 2pm this afternoon.
According to the Highways Agency, Thames Valley Police are leading the response to the incident between the Newbury and Calcot junction.
They added: "Due to the seriousness of the incident the closure is expected to remain in place throughout the evening peak."
One person on Twitter wrote: "I'm sitting in that traffic since around 14.30 serious accident, air ambulance, fire truck, alot of police cars, hope they're ok."
Highways England issued an update at 8pm saying the recovery is now complete on the M4 eastbound between Newbury and Calcot but there is damage to the barriers in the collision, which are currently being repaired. The road remains closed.
