New lease of life for historic building
A historic building on Cheap Street is set for a new lease of life after a planning application was submitted to West Berkshire Council.
41 and 41A Cheap Street have been empty for many years and despite being sold to new owners at auction three years ago, it appears not a lot has happened with the premises since then.
The new planning application seeks to make alterations to the ground floor so a shop can operate there along with two self contained studios. If permission is granted there will also be alterations to the first floor where an additional four self contained studio apartments will sit.
Owners of the building, the Living Club LTD, want to create an additional floor with new staircase and replace the existing pitched roof and flat roof construction to the rear of the building to provide a single studio apartment.
