Newbury Carnival postponed until 2020
Plans for Carnival in Newbury this year have been shelved.
According to organisers of the event, which was scheduled to take place on Sunday 14 July, there have been too many different pressures and priorities on people's time.
Chair of the Carnival, Sami Gabriel told us: “As you can appreciate, a group of volunteers runs the Newbury Carnival with the shared desire to do good for Newbury as a Town and the people of Newbury. However this year, despite the carnival committee's best efforts, there have been too many different pressures and priorities on people's time that we were struggling to organise this year's carnival.”
“The committee already had a good number of parade entries, as well as fete stalls and amusements, but we were all struggling with time pressures to continue as we neared the carnival date for this year.
“So it was with great regret that the decision was made to postpone this year's carnival till next year.”
Despite the sad news that this year’s Carnival won’t take place, it has been confirmed that the next event will take place in July 2020.
