Newbury Manor Hotel to re-open in 2018
The popular Newbury Manor Hotel will not now re-open until 2018.
That's despite initial hopes that the 46-bedroom hotel would welcome its first guests over the next few months.
Recently management at the hotel had asked West Berkshire Council if they could alter the hotel cottage building to create a hotel restaurant with outdoor seating terrace. This application was withdrawn after comments about the number of car parking spaces and over spill on surrounding roads, as well as the proximity of the new area in relation to nearby residential properties.
Newbury Manor Hotel is owned by a company that is headed by Hugh Osmond, the owner of Strada through his private equity company Sun Capital Partners. Sinclair Beecham, co-founder of Pret a Manager and the Hoxton hotel, joined the business – since renamed as Mudlark Hotels as an investor in 2014.
The hotel's previous owners had racked up debts of more than £8 million according to the Caterer Magazine.
