Newbury's Remembrance Parade
The Remembrance Sunday Parade & Service will be held in Newbury on Sunday 10 November 2019.
The Remembrance Sunday proceedings will commence with the main parade stepping off at 10.25am from Pelican Lane and marching the length of Northbrook Street turning into Mansion House Street where the Mayor of Newbury, Cllr Elizabeth O’Keeffe, will take the salute prior to continuing to the Market Place where the Remembrance Service will take place.
Following the brief Service of Remembrance in the Market Place, the parade will march past the War Memorial where wreaths will be laid on the way into St Nicolas Church.
There will be a qualified British Sign Language expert who will be positioned in order to ensure that those people who need help hearing the service are able to see the Signer.
It is requested that members of the public wishing to be near to the Signer should position themselves in the roadway near to the old Strada restaurant to give them a clear view, however, signage will also be in place.
Cllr Elizabeth O’Keeffe, Mayor of Newbury said: “We are most grateful that so many veterans, service personnel, uniformed organisations, the youth groups, voluntary organisations and members of the public attend Newbury Remembrance Parade and Service. Our community comes together at this time to remember those who have given their lives in the service of the country. It is a poignant occasion and I am honoured to be taking the salute on behalf of our town."
