Profits up at the Weekly News
Bean counters at Newbury News Ltd have managed to score a profit after tax of more than £153,000 compared to a loss of £1,935,410 in 2016.
Over the course of the 12 months up to December 31 2017, there was a reduction in staff numbers from 72 to 59 and it was the first full year in which the price of the newspaper was £1 after a 20p increase at the end of 2016.
This may have had a part in an increase in newspaper sales of more than £30,000 helping boost sales figures of the paper to £433,958.
Although not included in this financial statement, the Company did close its printing operation and they announced recently a move from Newspaper House next door to a garage showroom on Faraday Road.
