Raft fun this Bank Holiday Monday

Teams of paddlers and charity stall holders are gearing up to head back to the 80’s, to re-visit Crafty Craft’s youth, this Bank Holiday Monday 7 May.

The theme this year, for raft decoration and paddlers’ fancy dress is “Back to the 80’s”, a theme suggested by one of the regular entrants, Savernake Explorer Scouts.

Rafts travel from Kintbury along the canal to the Finish Line at Victoria Park, where there will be food, music and a variety of stalls and activities for all, from 10am until 4pm, to celebrate the Crafty Crafters’ arrival!

Paul Mernagh, 2018 Race Controller, said: “Crafty Craft is in its 44th year, so it was once very much an 80’s child, so we decided the Scouts’ theme idea fits the event very well. We have teams coming called “Back To The Future” and “The Dukes of Paddles”, so we know that the creativity of Newbury area’s Crafty Crafters will be a great spectacle, as in previous years.”

“We get a variety of teams entering, from adults and juniors, charities and corporate, just-to-win and just-for-fun!”
