Raise a glass to Newbury pubs in Good Beer Guide
Several Newbury Town Centre pubs have featured in a guide to the best boozers in the country.
The Campaign for Real Ale's (CAMRA) Good Beer Guide features recommended pubs across the United Kingdom that serve the best real ale.
Representing Newbury in the Guide were the Lock Stock & Barrel, Cow and Cask, The Hatchet, King Charles Tavern as well as the Catherine Wheel.
Paul Worsley, CAMRA West Berkshire Pubs Officer, said that the real ale offering in Newbury Town Centre goes from strength to strength - witnessed by the first time in 40 years that five pubs have made The Good Beer Guide.
According to Paul, before Warwick Heskins took over the Catherine Wheel, the last time the pub was in The Good Beer Guide was in the 1990 edition.
Since 1974 CAMRA has produced a completely independent regional guide to the best pubs covering the whole of the UK and Northern Ireland with listings based entirely on evaluation by CAMRA volunteers.
