Real Ale Festival cancelled

Organisers of the Newbury Real Ale Festival have announced that this year's event has been cancelled.

The decision was made in the interest of safety with organisers saying they cancelled the event due to take place in September reluctantly.

In a statement, the Festival team said: "For the past 17 years Newbury has looked forward to the Newbury Real Ale festival bringing an end to the summer. A day filled with beers, ciders, great food, live music and friends. Last year was the biggest event in its history with over 6,500 people enjoying themselves at the event.

"Unfortunately, in the interest of the safety, the organisers have reluctantly decided to cancel the event in 2020. Whilst there are signs of Covid-19 lockdown being lifted across the country and some of the hospitality sector have been able to open during July, to gather thousands of people in a single location is still too risky. We can’t wait to see the Ale Festival back, better than ever, for its 18th birthday next year."
