Reviewing Bella Italia breakfast
On a rainy Sunday morning we ventured into a very quiet Newbury Town Centre.
The sounds of a few shops unlocking their doors, staff having their last tab before customers arrive and rangers from Newbury Bid setting up for the annual puddle jumping shenanigans were the only noises we heard.
Sitting in the Market Place, Bella Italia, is a bit of a stalwart of the Town's eating scene.
Wandering in with just one other couple sitting by the window and listening to the staff to describe how quiet it had been over the course of the weekend, it was hard to understand how they were surviving.
For a fiver, customers at Bella Italia can pick one of a wide range of breakfast options.
I opted for the traditional breakfast with a good solid piece of sausage that could have done with a second or two longer on the grill. It was accompanied by beans, a tomato, a choice of scrambled or fried eggs, a slice of toast and bacon.
Having never sampled their morning menu I was very impressed with the value and quality of what was placed in front of me.
That nod of appreciation continued with my dining partner who went for something more exotic in the form of a frittata.
The veggie option was piping hot when it arrived and was filled with onions, potato, pepper and mushroom. There was even room for some spinach.
It was a clear two thumbs up to the breakfast menu at Bella Italia remembering that with two drinks it came to less than £15 for the both of us.
