Scorcher this week
Newbury is set for a couple of days of glorious sunshine this week with temperatures hitting 30C.
The hot weather will hit us tomorrow with 26c of sunshine in this part of West Berkshire. And then on Wednesday through to Friday we hit 30c.
Met Office Chief Meteorologist, Dan Suri said: “From Wednesday temperatures will widely reach into the high twenties Celsius and it’ll be hot across much of the UK, especially central and southern England where we could see highs of 30 to 34 Celsius. This hot weather is expected to last until at least Friday and so heatwave conditions are likely to develop for some areas this week.”
While many of our favourite spots are out of bounds at the minute, there are still some activities for people to enjoy in the sun.
Newbury Tennis Courts at Victoria Park - You can also pay and play via their online system from £3.40, simply register, book and pay for your court hour and enter the access code detailed on your confirmation email at the gate.
Bowdown Woods - In the shadows of Greenham Common when it comes to walks, Bowndown Woods is a magical dense ancient woodland giving visitors views across the Kennet Valley.
An independent food walk - Some of Newbury's finest independents have been continually cooking up some great food during the lockdown. So how about a breakfast or cake from the Flower Pot cafe and a quick walk over to the canal to enjoy it by the water? Or maybe sample Mrs B's Kitchen treats from Faraday Road before enjoying in Victoria Park? There is of course some Lusso ice cream you could sample while watching Northbrook Street social distancing?
