Section of Station Road to close

A section of Station Road is to close to help assist with social distancing.

West Berkshire Council intends to close the one-way road from the Bartholomew Street junction to where Station Road meets the Link Road.

That's the bit that runs parallel between the railway tracks and the school.

A notice in the Newbury Weekly News mentions that the closure will be in place for 18 months from Friday 19 June.

Vehicles will have to use Newtown Road, St John's Road and the Link Road.

The Council say the closure is to assist with social distancing and safety in the current climate. It follows a similar move which saw the banning of vehicles on other roads in Newbury Town Centre.
