Signs of madness
A plan to re-brand West Berkshire's libraries has thrown up question marks about the Council's priorities.
As a result of the Government’s reduction in the Revenue Support Grant to West Berkshire Council, it was required to make £19M of savings and the West Berkshire Libraries Service budget was reduced by 44% - yet it still wants to put up new signage on its library at Newbury.
The number of signs at Newbury will go up from three to four on the building that now has 15 staff (10.3FTE). A reduction of 44%.
There are a further 25 volunteers in Newbury library.
