Signs to change after it’s deemed ‘unacceptable’
New pub Walkabout has backed down and will change the signage on its new Cheap Street unit.
Planners from the pub, which will open in March, have amended their plans for the site.
The signs will now be timber with flat cut letters and externally illuminated by a trough. This follows criticism from members of the public and West Berkshire Council.
Debra Inston from West Berkshire Council, said: “The use of an aluminium panel, covered with a photo print of blue timber planks, for the fascia and projecting sign is not acceptable. The modern appearance of the panel, and the fake nature of the ‘timber planks’ would harm the traditional character and appearance of the building.”
