Strong 2016 for local housing market
The average house price in West Berkshire rose by around £20,000 over the last year.
Rising from £326,000 at the start of the year to £347,000 in October, the buoyant housing market ignored any threats from the uncertain future that Brexit was said to bring.
Newbury Property News reported that in November on the three main property portals (Rightmove, Zoopla and On The Market) there were a total of 232 properties for sale in Newbury (within 2 miles of the centre of Newbury to be exact). The year before, there were only 163 properties for sale, a rise of 42%.
While West Berkshire's property prices saw a steady price increase, the Reading and Basingstoke markets both saw reduction after summer price peaks.
