Success for Newbury in Bloom team

Newbury in Bloom has just announced that it has bagged £2,000 from a Tesco funding scheme.

Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch its Bags of Help funding initiative, which sees grants of up to £5,000, £2,000 and £1,000 – all raised from the 5p bag levy – being awarded to thousands of local community projects every year.

Millions of shoppers for many projects voted in stores up and down the country and work will now begin on bringing the project to life.

Cllr Sarah Greenall, Chairperson of the Newbury in Bloom Working Group, said, “This year’s Newbury in Bloom campaign has a new category, Community Projects. These funds will be used to help individuals, groups of people or organisations who want to get involved in such projects, for the benefit of their community. Projects could include cleaning up some neglected areas, planting trees in open spaces, making flowerbeds, painting, cleaning a wall or a building that needs some TLC. In fact, anything that helps to improve the appearance or the environment in your community. So, if you have a suitable project in your area, please contact us as soon as possible. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Tesco Bags of Help for their support”
