Takeaway from the Hare and Hounds

While getting a takeaway is something we all take for granted, the recent phenomenon of more independents getting on board has been a bonus.

The Hare and Hounds on Bath Road was one of those and boy did they bring restaurant quality food to the dining room table.

After observing the kneel of solidarity in Victoria Park, I phoned home to agree on what we were having before tapping away on the Hare and Hounds website to book a slot and what we wanted for dinner.

With a price tag of £39 for garlic bread, prawn linguine, pork ribs and sticky toffee pudding, I was thinking I had been done.

Upon opening the takeaway box it became clear that I hadn't been.

Two huge juicy pork ribs were staring back in a sweet blanket of BBQ sauce. The succulent meat fell off the bone while teasing me because it knew both sets of ribs couldn't be defeated in one sitting.

The ribs came with a side of potato wedges and coleslaw.

While I battled with the pork ribs, alongside me a similar eating challenge was ongoing. The prawn linguine featured a fine catch of king prawns with chorizo crackling, courgettes, cherry tomatoes and garlic in a tomato sauce.

This would certainly qualify as the best takeaway ever and sets a seriously high standard for future orders.

Unfortunately the pizza size garlic bread and ribs combo, meant that I couldn't fit in the sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream and toffee pouring sauce.

Other options from the Hare and Hounds include burgers, pasta and lasagne, salad, pizza and plenty of puddings with beer and wine also delivered.
