Takeaway from the King Charles Tavern
The King Charles Tavern on Cheap Street was our venue of choice for takeaway on Saturday after enjoying a swift one on the street there the previous evening in the sunshine.
With a menu featuring everything from fish and chips to gammon steak and a chicken curry, we opted for a wholesome hunters chicken burger and the vegan lasagne.
The vegan lasagne, although not on the huge side, was packed with flavour. It was filled with butternut squash and aubergines in a nice tomato sauce with an almond garnish. It came alongside a fresh rocket, lettuce and a tomato.
A portion of the biggest chip wedges known to man crashed on my plate with the hunters chicken burger. It had a huge chicken breast with a light coated in BBQ sauce, melted cheese and a rasher on bacon. There was also a jazzy little garlic clove on the top.
As always whenever there is a sticky toffee pudding on the menu we have to have it. The remarkably light pudding was covered in a thick sauce and had just the right amount of fruit in it. You also get a scoop of ice cream for your troubles as well.
That's half a portion in the pic.
After the success of our recent Hare and Hounds takeaway, this comes a close second at a total of £29.85.
