The sleeping fox catches no poultry or a refurb
A steel armour has been attached to the front of the Snooty Fox in an attempt to deter any would-be intruders.
But while the screening will protect the building, it also reinforces concerns that the pub wont be whipping out the pork scratchings any time soon.
Despite Star Pubs, the owners of the site, revealing their exciting plans there is still no sign of lease holders ready to sign on the dotted line with the £35,000 needed to get this place moving again.
According to Star, the renamed Snotty Fox will be called the Globe Inn. It will be a vibrant, on-trend pub, characterised by a contemporary, stripped back design. Located on Bartholomew Street, in the centre of Newbury town it forms part of an established social circuit and benefits from significant footfall throughout the day and evening creating a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and innovative operator.
As well a new lease-holder with the investment to undertake the changes, the plans also need to be approved by West Berkshire Council. This is something that could take at least eight weeks with the added caveat that because the Snooty Fox was one of the most troublesome pubs for the Local Authority, any licence application will have to be carefully considered.
