Train station bridge dismantled
The old footbridge at Newbury Train Station is no more.
Over the weekend the bridge was removed by Network Rail as part of work to electrify the line.
According to Network Rail the old bridge wasn't high enough to get the wires underneath it.
The crossing now also includes a lift, allowing those with wheelchairs, pushchairs and luggage to get to and from the platforms safely.
The new bridge, which opened in the Spring, hasn't down well with train passengers because of its position at the westerly edge of the platform away the booking office and entrances.
