Two 5G towers planned for Newbury
New 5G towers could be built at two sites in Newbury
According to a letter sent to Newbury Town Council's Hugh Peacocke, a company called Clarke Telecom is proposing the new 5G towers be built reaching up to 20 metres in height next to the Tesco petrol station at Pinchington Lane and on Faraday Road.
The demand for mobile data in the UK is increasing rapidly, and as households and businesses become increasingly reliant on mobile connectivity, the infrastructure must be in place to ensure supply does not become a constraint on future demand says Clarke Telecom.
In March and April, both the government and OFCOM had to dispel myths that Covid19 was being spread by 5G.
In a statement, Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, said: "There is no evidence of a link between 5G and coronavirus. These theories have been rejected by scientific experts in the World Health Organisation and Full Fact, a UK-based independent fact checking charity."
