Vault finally gets unlocked
Newbury's newest nightclub, the Vault, finally opened its doors one month later than advertised last weekend.
The club situated opposite the bus station and in the same unit as Liquid, welcomed hundreds of part-goers through its doors on Saturday when we visited, with many more stood outside in the chilly January air waiting to get in.
While the Club may have a new name, there are some nods back to its former glory with Liquid swirl toilet signs and sticky carpets. But while some would say they expect trouble similar to that experienced at Liquid, a team of security kept an eye on the clubbers in what felt like a very safe environment.
As well as popular dance anthems that kicked the evening off, the music progressed to the Killers and then more intense drum 'n' base and dance with the DJs keeping the whole Club jumping.
Although the Club and its staff kept the majority of the 18-year-olds happy, one of the biggest gripes people faced were the queues for the drinks and eventual running out of certain booze by about 2am.
Overall the Vault is a welcome addition to the Newbury night time economy promoting a safe and fun environment.
